"Produce outstanding and peculiar effects": The motto insisted by Louis Moinet (1848) is the starting point for our design of ASTRONEF. The idea is to push back the known limits, as Louis Moinet did in his time—especially when the chronograph was invented in 1816. The ASTRONEF mechanism requires more than three years of research. In view of its completely innovative characteristics, its development was considered impossible even at various stages of research, and production was almost discontinued. ASTRONEF was finally able to see the sky again, thanks to the joint efforts of the best watchmakers and engineers. Today, it is safe to say that ASTRONEF is one of the most important super watches.
The dial is made of a plate with a total thickness of 0.6 mm, and then 0.2 mm is hollowed out from it to expose the numbers and racks to produce a depth effect that is convenient for reading. The ensuing dark black DLC treatment contrasts sharply with rhodium plating and gives it a dual tone. Finally, a round satin brushed finish is used to give it an undeniable personality power.
The curved crystal of ASTRONEF shows a powerful mechanical device, and the lightness of its gold frame and sapphire container demonstrates its power. This maximum transparency allows the observer to enjoy a unique scene. The technical structure of the case is unusual: the sapphire container is mounted on the hollow lugs of the 18K gold frame, and in the middle of the case is the sapphire dome and its applied inner bezel.
ASTRONEF demonstrated a recently introduced technology involving two tourbillons rotating in opposite directions at high speed. They traverse 18 times per hour (every 3 minutes and 20 seconds) and are built on two different levels. This makes the fascinating animation full of life, unfolding before curious eyes. There are a total of six different elements in motion: two satellite tourbillons rotating around the dial, and their two frames and two counterweights. ASTRONEF aims to instill a sense of movement, no matter from which angle it is viewed. Smooth on the outside, original on the inside, with absolutely unique and distinctive beauty.
The mechanism is hidden at the bottom of the frame that is only 3.75 mm thick. The advantage of this structure is that it can clear the stage to enhance the magic of the show being played. The spectacular design related to the complexity of the mechanism is marked by its control tower (or central column), which transmits commands to the tourbillon and pointers. Finally, the mechanical part is equipped with a powerful and modern engine, giving it a very high level of performance, making it more efficient than a single tourbillon.

The tourbillon frame has a geometric shape. The weight of a cage is only 0.25 grams, in order to ensure the correct speed through fine balance. Each cage rotates within 60 seconds and requires perfect balance, which also relies on a 0.4g 18K gold counterweight.
Place the selector on the back of the case to increase the volume. The device plays two different roles: time setting or winding. The crown is no longer pulled out; it is used to set the hands or wind the mechanism. Like every detail of ASTRONEF, this function is based on a unique mechanism derived from extensive research experience, which embodies technicality, elegance and uniqueness.
Each ASTRONEF has specially made a display box. It is carefully crafted by craftsmen and features various tones of straw inlay patterns. Buyers can choose from a variety of different graphic design schemes.
Ateliers Louis Moinet in Saint-Blaise will only launch eight ASTRONEF watches. This number means that only eight owners will carefully protect the elite incarnations of contemporary watchmaking technology.
