Callaway Golf has announced their new premium golf balls for 2022. The 2022 Chrome Soft, Chrome Soft X, and Chrome Soft X LS.

All three models will be available on January 28th and retail for $49.99.

The little changes with the new balls include a new and improved core, the Hyper Elastic SoftFast Core. This core allows for softer feel and increased ball speed. There is also a new Tour Aero cover pattern on the Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X which creates less drag and allows the ball to carry further in the air.

Chrome Soft X LS also has a new cover which is softer than the previous model. The new cover will still provide that firm feel off the driver but improve spin on wedge and iron shots.

The major change comes with Callaway’s new Precision Technology.

After MyGolfSpy exposed the company back in 2019 for not making sure that their cores were centered in its golf balls, Callaway Golf invested $50 million into its Chicopee, Massachusetts ball plant facility which is now being used for the first time in the 2022 Chrome Soft line-up.

Precision Technology is used to make sure that all balls have perfectly centered layers. PT is a 3D X-ray machine that scans each ball after it is produced.

It measures the dimensions of every layer in the ball, including the mantle and cover, to make sure each is centered and the desired thickness in every direction.

Each model will be available in white, white with Triple Track, and yellow with Triple Track. The Chrome Soft will be available in white and yellow with Truvis additionally.

Personally I am very excited to try these new models out since the 2020 Chrome Soft was one of my favorite balls to put into play. With Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson putting the 2022 Chrome Soft X in play this week and Xander Schauffele putting the 2022 Chrome Soft X LS in play this week, will you be giving one of the new balls a try?
