When it comes to putting on a show, Lady Gaga is no slouch. The singer has racked up accolades from the Grammys to the Oscars, and her Chromatica Ball Tour is coming to Hershey this weekend with all of the pomp and circumstance that we’ve come to expect from one of pop music’s biggest names.

So if you’re going to check it out on Sunday night, here’s what you can expect from her show at the Hersheypark Stadium:

Judging by set lists we’ve seen from other shows on the tour so far, The Chromatica Ball Tour is laid out in five acts, plus a prelude, each containing between three to five songs. Give or take an encore, that’s somewhere between twenty and twenty-two numbers, with a set list that’s probably around two and a half hours long.

You can take a look at set lists from various other shows so far if you want to try and get a sneak peek at what’s coming. But there’s definitely a theme to each act, with the prelude including some of her biggest dance hits to set the tone for the coming show. And the tone for each act that follows will be set by ...

Remember music videos? They’re back, in concert form! While YouTube may have taken the place of MTV, Gaga’s show brings the videos directly to her fans with these pre-recorded interludes. Each includes snippets of her own music, as well as some potential shout-outs to artists ranging from Dr. Dre to Johann Sebastian Bach.

For a show like this, some breaks are necessary. After all, even Lady Gaga needs a minute to catch her breath and take a drink of water. Not to mention ...

It wouldn’t be Lady Gaga without outrageous costumes. It’s what helped put her on the map back when she was starting out. Remember the meat dress, anyone? I don’t know that we’ll see anything quite that daring -the show is outdoors after all, and temperatures are expected to be in the 80s on Sunday, so meat wouldn’t be the move - but you can expect every costume to be flamboyant, extravagant and more more elaborate than the last.

One publication referred to the show as including “everything from the stark brutalist architecture of the stage design, to the Alexander McQueen tributes in the costume design, to the body horror accents in the set pieces, to the unabashed power metal excess of it all.” So, buckle up for all that.

Did you know that Lady Gaga is quite popular? Tickets for the show were pretty scarce earlier in the week, and that’s only gotten worse by today. It’s very likely that the Hersheypark Stadium will be very near to capacity when Lady Gaga plays this Sunday.

That means if you’re going, you’re going to be one of a few dozen thousand Little Monsters. Bring your patience for lines, for everything from Will Call ticket booths to admission to bathrooms, and prepare to be deafened by the sound. And I don’t mean the music: the roar of the crowd is sure to make even the Jonas Brothers seem tame in comparison.

This is Lady Gaga we’re talking about. “Gaga puts on one of the best productions in pop,” said this concert recap from Rolling Stone, “but she’s just as good letting her immense voice shine.” You’re not only going to be seeing a true pop diva and powerhouse vocalist live, you’re going to see her unbridled weirdness presented on a giant stage. And it’s all coming after a long pandemic and several postponements to her touring schedule, on top other postponements from her struggles with fibromyalgia.

So in top of hearing her belt songs like “Rain On Me,” “Telephone” and “Poker Face,” this is the place where her transitioning between songs will include hatching from giant cocoons, white gowns soaked by fake blood, jets of fire, elaborate choreography from backup dancers, and everything else you’d expect from music’s reigning queen of avant-garde pop.
